A Few of My Favorite Things

I am frequently asked to give recommendations for products that I like.  I am going to share with you a few of my favorite things.

1. The cleanest skin care and cosmetic company I know of is 100% Pure.  They offer gluten and soy free options.  This stuff is fresh enough to eat.  You can get it online and they have a great return policy.  I doubt you would return it.  They also sell personal care items like aluminum free deodorant.

2.     Deodorant – Lafes , it comes in a spray or roll on.

3.     Face care products -  Derma E, Juice Beauty (Oil Free moisturizer is the best I have tried in that category) and Dr. Hauschka.  These are good lines but do not offer the gluten and soy free options.

Here are some of my favorite products!

4.     Lip Balm – by Dr. Hauschka.  This is great stuff for the worst of lips

5.     Body wash – Nutribiotic body wash for problem skin, is a great local pick.  100% Pure  has body wash to be ordered online.

6.      You can also make your own body wash – 1 cup of liquid Castile soap, 3 tablespoons coconut oil and 5-6 drops of orange, lavender or peppermint oil.  This is so gentle and moisturizing. If you are battling acne on your back, you can add a few drops of tea tree, or lemon oil to fight bacteria.

7.      For bar soaps my friend uses one that smells good enough to eat.  It is Nubian Heritage Bar Soap, Coconut and Papaya with Vanilla Beans

8.     Body lotion- Natures Gate Papaya has been my favorite for years.  For really dry skin you cannot beat straight coconut oil applied before bed.

9.     Household cleaning products -  I use these homemade products that work amazingly well!  The other perk is that you do not feel like you have just left a toxic gas chamber after using them.

a.     Multi-purpose spray cleaner with disinfecting tea tree and lemon oil -

Fill a spray bottle with 25 ounces of water add 30 drops of Tea Tree oil, 15 drops of Lemon oil and 3 Tablespoons of Dr. Bronner’s Pure Castile soap. Spray everything from countertops to toilet seats and wipe.  This smells so good.

b.     Homemade Soft Scrub from Live Renewed.com

¾ cup Baking Soda

¼ cup Castile Soap

1 Tbl water

1Tbl Vinegar added last, always

Stir with a fork, apply to a sponge and clean all your cares away!

c.      If you like the way these work visit www.liverenewed.com for more amazing “green” cleaning ideas that work and are cheap to make.

10.                        My favorite balsamic vinegar is from Tree and Vine in Ashville, NC. You can order it online.  www.treeandvine.com They also have GF (gluten- free options) If you have time to get away it is a beautiful place to go and enjoy the mountains.

11.                        I love a good cup of tea- Serenity House in St. Simons, GA is an incredible place to buy tea.  www.serenityhousetea.com  The tea names are a little colorful, but they are delicious.  Enjoy!
